Dr Meshach Bolasere Olawuyi is a multi-talented paediatrician based in Lagos, Nigeria. He has got many years of experience in the care of children and also a vast array of skills in computer graphics, music, event management, interviewing, etc.
He had his first degree (MBBS) at the University of Ilorin, Nigeria and his post-graduate medical training at the University College Hospital, Ibadan, Nigeria. He is a Fellow of West African College of Physicians (Paediatrics) and member of the Paediatric Association of Nigeria. He also attended the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine to receive some training in Epidemiology and Medical Statistics.
He received his neonatology training at William Harvey Hospital, Ashford, UK and did an attachment at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston, Massachusetts, USA.
He began his professional working career as a research paediatrician at the UK-owned MRC The Gambia in 2002, where he worked with the Malaria Vaccine Trial and the Pneumococcal Vaccine Trial teams. Upon return to Nigeria, he worked at Catholic Hospital Oluyoro, Ibadan where he pioneered the development of their Special Care Baby Unit. He later moved to The Premier Specialists’ Medical Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos where worked for more than 7 years as a consultant paediatrician/neonatologist. He also served as a visiting consultant paediatrician to the company clinic of Total/Elf. In 2014, He was appointed Head of Paediatrics, at Reddington Multi-specialist Hospital Victoria Island, Lagos where he worked for another 5 years before retiring to start his own practice. While at Reddington Hospital, he assisted in the upgrade of the different aspects of the paediatrics department including the set-up of a standard Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and an efficient dedicated paediatric side-laboratory. He has mentored several younger doctors and nurses who are scattered across hospitals, home and abroad.
