CHEMICAL POISONING
In excitement, Sam came rushing from the school football field after having a strenuous match against Bob's team. Sam's team had won the match by 2-0. He was very tired and thirsty, his sweats were dripping like summer rain. All the refrigerators had empty bottles except the Head Teacher's. He grabbed the most chilled bottle and gulped the contents down his throat. But it was kind of tasty and... Wow! It was a pesticide (a chemical used for killing pests) just bought for the school farm. Oh, Oh! You can tell the rest of the story.
My lovely kids, don't be quick to drink from any container you see anywhere (even at home). You could mistakenly swallow some dangerous liquid like Sam did. Such dangerous liquids include acids, kerosene, caustic soda, bleach, and so on. Also, when you take too much of any medicine, it could harm you. All of these dangerous chemicals are very poisonous to our bodies and can kill. You should remember the following tips:
1. Check every container of water properly before drinking from it.
2. Ask people around you to confirm what is inside the container
3. Pour out some of it (e.g. in a cup) to know what is inside
4. Do not take more than the required dose of any medicine recommended by your doctor. Medicines are not like chocolates!
5. Be an obedient child. Let us be very careful of what we put into our mouths. But most importantly, always bless everything you want to eat or drink.
